My first reaction to this shoe was why would you want a strap across the back and what is it?
First they fit great and have a low almost sandal feel to them.
The sole, has a great boat grip, drain holes across the front to let out water and breathe.
The Backstrap, when the shoe gets wet this holds nicely to your skin it is not stiff as it looks in the picture. a silicone type feel but not sticky.
These fit a lot like the original crocks and look much better on your feet.
I will review back if they do not hold up long term. But for now I am sold and ready to buy one more color.
The only negative thing to say is they look so different at first glance.
Update: they have Omni-Shield advanced repellency for water and stain protection. This could come in handy for fishing trips.I bought some to give my Dad for Fathers day...

They have enough padding and support for a work out in the gym on the cardio gear or for long walks (I've gone 3 to 4 miles with no problem), but need a little more cushion for long jogs or running. The reason they work so great for travel is that you can work out or walk all day in them, and they perform very well for adventures in or on the water. They dry quickly and don't smell after. If you go on a cruise, all you need are a pair of dress shoes and these. They pack very easy and take up little room in your bag.

(More customer reviews)I purchased my Dawgs from Amazon in July 2009...i love the shoe..its lightweight, comfortable. I have problems with my pain in my heels if sandals does not have good support and cushion..The Z sandal has great cushioning and support.
The sizes are pretty right on so if you wear a size 5 buy the 5 it will fit perfect after your feet adjust to sandals.
My only complaint about the shoes is that when i wear for long period of time, I start making this "suction" sort of noise when i walk..nothing i cannot live with but weird.
